When I returned to the Legislative Council four years ago, I was determined to use my position to give a voice to the vulnerable and to improve the people’s livelihood. But I also understand that without democracy it would be incredibly difficult to do so. Since then, the decision made by the People’s Congress on August 31st, 2014 and the excessive firing of tear gas at protestors sparked the Umbrella Movement, in which I actively participated. I was vocal in rejecting the Government’s pseudo-democratic proposal that ultimately was vetoed in a spectacle by a vote of 28 to 8.

As a consequence of the Umbrella Movement, unfortunately, some believe that we need to resort to violence in order to fight for independence. Instead I firmly believe in the value of peace, and using rationality and morality in the fight for our democracy and autonomy. This fight should start by tackling the issues of our everyday lives.

I am running for re-election because I believe that there must be a councillor who focuses on the people’s livelihood instead of political games.

Still, my dedication remains with the underprivileged and the vulnerable, and with justice.
